The Best Ways to Invest in New Zealand
Now is a better time than ever to invest in New Zealand, as the beautiful island nation is experiencing huge growth year on year. To supplement this growth, the NZ authorities are welcoming investment from abroad and this is what Investor Visas are all about.
Investing in a New Life Abroad
The New Zealand Investor Visa gives our clients the chance to live and work in NZ with a view to permanent residency after two years. The visa requires that the client invests $1.5m into the NZ economy and this amount is held over a four year period before being returned. In this way, the New Zealand authorities hope to strengthen their economy even further and allow access to successful, skilled and educated people.
Typically, we could expect to have your case processed within a few months although these times are given by the NZ authorities and are subject to change. Likewise, we would expect the authorities to charge a processing fee of around a few thousand dollars but this, too, is under constant review.
What Do I Need to Apply?
To be eligible for an Investor Visa, you must be aged 65 or under. As well as your investment, you will be expected to have a maintenance of $1m or more. Maintenance is a sum of money which you and your dependents are expected to live off for the length of your stay in New Zealand. Under the terms of the New Zealand Investor visa, you do not have to have been offered a job in the country for your case to be accepted.
Many types of NZ visa require that you undertake a language test before you are allowed entry and this is no exception. Clients must prove that they have a good level of both written and spoken English before they will be granted entry to NZ. Not only that, but any dependents which you would like to take with you must also pass these examinations with good results.
Running a Business from the Beach
What do you get for the person who already has everything? Well, how about a change of scene? A successful visa application is one of those things that money just can’t buy, but with our insider knowledge behind you, you can be assured that your case stands the best possible chance. This was true of Raj who came to us in search of a better life abroad:
“I have been very fortunate in my life but I also worked hard to achieve what I have. By the age of 45, I had achieved many of my goals- including running a successful business. But there was one thing still missing in my life: an amazing country that I could call my new home. My wife and I thought about it long and hard, and we narrowed our choices down to Canada, Australia and New Zealand. After doing a little more research I called IXP. I explained everything to my advisor and she really helped me understand the pros and cons of each option. After much discussion we decided that New Zealand would be the perfect place for us to live and relax, and that an Investor Visa would be the best way forward. The process took a little time, but we were finally accepted- something I know doesn’t happen all the time. Without the expertise of IXP, I’m not sure if our case would have been accepted or how long it would have taken us to do it all ourselves!”
