It can be tough living without our loved ones, though, which is why IXP are here to help reunite families separated by borders.
What are Family Class Visas?
Families are built on hard-work and stability, which is why Family Class Visas are designed to reflect that fact. These visas are generally 5 years long to promote family stability and to give the applicant the chance to find work. However, if you have no children together and have not been together for longer than two years, then the length of your stay may be affected.
The key to these visas are sponsors. Sponsors are permanent residents or citizens of Canada, over the age of 18, who are related to the applicant and are willing to support them.
The sponsor must be willing to financially support the applicant for three to ten years so that they can settle in Canada properly. No offer of employment is required for these cases and, once accepted, the applicant can work without restriction in the country.
Of course, the applicant must take all the necessary steps, once in Canada, to become self-supporting as quickly as possible. But with IXP’s fantastic employment service, we will be there every step of the way helping you to make a success of your immigration to this amazing country.
Am I Eligible?
A permanent residence visa allows someone to nominate one of their family to migrate to Canada without a work permit. Our customers who apply for Family Class Visas are not subject to the Canadian points system for entry into the country either.
Both the applicant and the sponsor must sign a Sponsorship Agreement which details the responsibilities which the sponsor has to the applicant during the time of stay.
If your sponsor has already sponsored a relative who ended up on social assistance then they may not be eligible as a sponsor.
How Long Does the Process Take?
Family Class Visas can take a while to be processed as the immigration office must assess the suitability of the sponsor. This is the initial step of the process and can take up to 4 years for parents and grandparents, and roughly a month for a spouse or dependent child. The next step is dealt with by the immigration office in your own country and this process can take up to 2 years.
IXP Case Study
Sometimes, we have to make tough decisions on how best to provide a better future for our family. For some people this means having to say goodbye to their loved-ones in the short-term so that they can have a better life in the long-term. Here, one of our clients explains how we helped him become reunited with his family:
“I met my wife when we were both studying in the UK. Not long after we got married, we were blessed with twins and my wife couldn’t go back to work immediately. I suggested that she moved back to her parents’ home in Canada and I would stay behind and work for a while, so that we could afford a new home. Finally, my contract with work finished and I was able to join my wife and children over the Atlantic. IXP not only sorted out my visa application but their employment team was able to put me in contact with useful Canadian employers.”
